What can Neurofeedback be used for?

How does Neurofeedback work?

At Bhakti, you will work with one of our Neurofeedback Team Members with specialized expertise who will use specific evaluation equipment to measure and record your brain’s electrical activity. This helps identify and address areas of the brain that may benefit from treatment. Then we will use this information to create your personalized treatment plan, promoting positive brain activity.

What is a Neurofeedback Training Session like?

You will be connected to a computer using wires and sensors, that monitor your brainwave activity. The software automatically detects when your brainwaves are properly ordered and feeds that information back to you in real time. The feedback appears in the form of a game, movie, or sound signaling that your brainwaves are becoming more ordered. Your own brainwaves control the game, movie or sound activity, and the observation of this dynamic helps your brain learn how to improve its own regulation.

Who provides Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is performed by Bhakti Clinic Practitioners with specialized expertise and training from Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA)-endorsed programs. Together with your provider you will design a personalized neurofeedback treatment plan that meets your needs.

What is the difference between Neurofeedback therapy and training?

Think of it this way, Neurofeedback Therapy is good for a particular symptom, it is intervention based, and it fixes something that is broken. Neurofeedback Training, on the other hand, involves skill acquisition, it’s a completely different paradigm than therapy. Neurofeedback Training is not treating a symptom but training a skill in the brain which will have a profound, lifelong impact. It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and the learning that happens through neurofeedback training is permanent.

Bhakti Brain Health Clinic is an out-of network provider for most insurances. Some, but not all, insurance plans will cover neurofeedback. Often, however, they do not cover the cost of a QEEG (brain mapping). If you are interested in using your insurance, we can provide you with the documentation necessary to submit a claim directly to your health insurance company for reimbursement directly to you. It is up to you to verify insurance coverage with your insurance provider.

Cost of Services

Payment is due at time of service. We accept cash, check, credit card (Visa Mastercard, American Express) or HSA/FSA cards. We have packages available for purchase (10, 20, 40, 60 or 80 sessions). Purchasing a package is a way to reduce your total cost for training. Information on cost of packages is available upon request or by scheduling a 30-minute free consult.

If you wish to use your insurance benefits, we will provide you with a detailed receipt which includes all the information you need to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for out-of-network benefits only. Out-of-network benefits vary from one insurance provider to another. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider to clarify details of your out-of-network benefits and to submit receipts provided by Bhakti Brain Health Clinic to your provider for reimbursement.
