How does Neurofeedback work?

At Bhakti, you will work with one of our Neurofeedback Team Members with specialized expertise who will use specific evaluation equipment to measure and record your brain’s electrical activity. This helps identify and address areas of the brain that may benefit from treatment. Then we will use this information to create your personalized treatment plan, promoting positive brain activity.

What is a Neurofeedback Training Session like?

You will be connected to a computer using wires and sensors, that monitor your brainwave activity. The software automatically detects when your brainwaves are properly ordered and feeds that information back to you in real time. The feedback appears in the form of a game, movie, or sound signaling that your brainwaves are becoming more ordered. Your own brainwaves control the game, movie or sound activity, and the observation of this dynamic helps your brain learn how to improve its own regulation.

What is the difference between Neurofeedback therapy and training?

Think of it this way, Neurofeedback Therapy is good for a particular symptom, it is intervention based, and it fixes something that is broken. Neurofeedback Training, on the other hand, involves skill acquisition, it’s a completely different paradigm than therapy. Neurofeedback Training is not treating a symptom but training a skill in the brain which will have a profound, lifelong impact. It’s fun, it’s relaxing, and the learning that happens through neurofeedback training is permanent.
