This article will discuss the health benefits of Far Infrared (FIR) rays or light and its use as an alternative and complementary therapy to manage a variety health related ailments and illness. This article will also address FIR as a preventative measure to improving and maintaining a person’s overall health and well being as we strive for new anti-aging tips and techniques to achieve longevity.
First let’s start by finding where FIR light or energy is located on the Electromagnetic Spectrum. As seen in Figure #1, FIR light has a lower frequency than visible light, thus a lower energy. Another word for Infrared energy (IR) is radiant heat, a simple form of energy that heats objects directly through a process called conversion. The sun produces energy in the infrared segment of this spectrum. Our atmosphere forms a window that allows FIR rays in the 7-14 micron range to safely reach the earth’s surface. The sun is the principal source of radiant energy that we experience daily.

Even though FIR rays are invisible, you can still feel them since they have a warming effect, similar to the feeling we get from the sun. If you have been in an Infrared Sauna, you know what this feels like. As shown in Figure #2, it is very warm and comforting and feels very similar to a traditional sauna.

Unlike Ultra-Violet (UV) rays that may be harmful to the skin, especially due to over-exposure, FIR Rays provide a safe environment and provide an excellent alternative to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We are careful here to mention that FIR Rays really heals nothing, but, that our bodies sometimes heal when given the proper support.
Take for instance the FIR HotHouse by HTE Americas as shown below.
Figure #3. Far Infrared (FIR) HotHouse made by HTE Americas
The semi-circular arched design of the FIR HotHouse uses a multi-faceted, acute angle silicon surface which maximizes the penetration of the FIR rays. During operation the under-side surface becomes rather warm, thus contact with the skin should be avoided. Spacers are provided for larger persons to avoid the surface from touching the skin during a treatment. The dome is approximately 15” wide and 14” high at the middle of the dome. There are four (4) different time settings: 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes with an automatic shut-off feature.
The FIR dome is placed over the various areas of the body, and the FIR Rays penetrate the skin up to 1.5 to 2 inches, thus working subcutaneously at the cellular level. The FIR Rays will cause the water molecules in the body to vibrate which reduces the ion bonds of the atoms holding the molecules of water together, thus creating a release of encapsulated gases and other toxic materials; lowering the toxic burden on the body promotes healing and health.
Also the deep penetration of FIR Rays help expand capillaries and raise body temperature to a safe level to strengthen and accelerate the immune response. It has been documented that Hyperthermia is being researched in conjunction with cancer patients being treated with chemotherapy. Scientists all over the world are studying the effects of specific light wavelengths on our bodies and have discovered the warming effects of FIR Rays to stimulate the body’s metabolism and improve blood circulation. These FIR Rays may also promote the elimination of toxins associated with aging and fatigue such as, heavy metals, uric acid and lactic acid, thus reducing pain and inflammation. FIR Therapy is also excellent for athletes to promote muscle recovery from strenuous exercise.
Below is a partial list of some common ailments and illness that may be managed with the help of FIR Therapy. Far Infrared has been beneficial to others with some of the following health challenges:
• Arthritis
• Earaches
• Knee Injuries
• Acne
• Asthma
• Chronic Pain
• Headaches
• Bed Sores
• Blood Pressure Problems
• Chest Colds
• Bronchitis
• Gout
• Eczema
• Muscle Pain
• Fungal Infections
• Rheumatism
• Diabetes
This technology is available at Bhakti Wellness Center. A typical FIR Session lasts 30 minutes on the SOQI Bed with the person lying on their back, covered with 3 FIR HotHouses, thus covering approximately 70% of the body. In addition to building the immune system, the session is very relaxing and reduces stress. Many people use SOQI Bed Therapy as a preventative measure on a routine basis to improve their overall health and well being.
Individual sessions and packages are available. To book a FIR Therapy Session, contact:
